Fuel filter, as the name suggests, is used to filter impurities in car fuel. It is one of the "three major filters" we often refer to. According to the different fuels, it can be divided into gasoline filters and diesel filters. It is a vulnerable component that requires regular cleaning and replacement. Generally, the fuel for private cars is mainly gasoline, so the filter is also a gasoline filter.
As is well known, gasoline is refined from crude oil through complex processes, then transported to various gas stations through special channels, and finally transported to the fuel tanks of private cars. During this process, impurities in gasoline will inevitably enter the fuel tank, and as the usage time prolongs, impurities will also increase. In this way, the filter used to filter fuel will be very dirty and full of debris, so the filtering effect will be greatly reduced. So it is recommended to replace the mileage. If the mileage is not changed or delayed, it will definitely affect the performance of the car, leading to poor fuel flow, dry refueling and other phenomena, ultimately leading to chronic engine damage, and even engine overhaul. In this way, the cost can be equivalent to the price of many fuel filters.
So, what is the replacement cycle for the fuel filter?
In fact, the fuel filter must be replaced every 30000 kilometers during normal use. If the fuel impurity content is high, the driving distance should be correspondingly shortened. But overall, we recommend replacing every 20000 kilometers. Please refer to the instructions in the vehicle manual for the best time.
Usually, replacing the fuel filter is done during a major repair of a car, and the air filter and oil filter are replaced simultaneously. But in reality, it can be appropriately extended according to the situation of the car engine, because the current gasoline production technology is relatively high, and the process from production to sales is relatively closed. The gasoline is much cleaner, and the fuel filter is rarely clogged. Driving 50000 to 60000 kilometers is no problem.
When replacing the filter, do not choose a inferior fuel filter because the material of the filter element used in the inferior fuel filter is poor, not only does the filtering effect be poor, but the filter layer of the filter element itself will also fall off and block the oil circuit, resulting in insufficient fuel pressure and the vehicle being unable to start. At the same time, it can also cause abnormal pressure in the fuel system, directly leading to insufficient engine power or combustion, damaging valuable components such as the three-way catalytic converter and oxygen sensors, and causing huge economic losses.
