1. The filter element fails and cannot function as a filter
The failure of the oil filter element mainly includes damage to the element, saturation of the filtering capacity of the element, or improper installation, resulting in the oil not being filtered through the element. The failure of the element also means that the oil filter cannot filter the oil, leading to its functional failure.
2. The oil filter is clogged with too many impurities
Due to the impurities and gum filtered by the oil filter being stored in the oil filter, it does not have its own self-cleaning function. Therefore, if there are too many impurities and gum in the oil, over time it will cause the oil filter to have too many impurities and become blocked. At this time, the bypass valve of the oil filter will open, and the oil will enter the lubricating oil circuit directly without passing through the filter, resulting in the failure of the oil filter function.
3. Improper opening of bypass valve
If the bypass valve on the oil filter is damaged, it will cause the valve to open prematurely and the oil filter to fail prematurely.
If the oil filter fails due to the above situations, unfiltered oil will directly enter the lubricating oil circuit and reach some important working parts of the engine for lubrication. The direct consequence is to intensify the wear and tear between the important moving pairs of the engine, and shorten the service life of the engine. Therefore, if the oil filter is found to be ineffective, it should be replaced in a timely manner.
