【Meiruier Filter】Procedure for changing engine oil and oil filter

2023-08-04 View:

The oil filter is used to remove metal debris and various impurities from the engine lubricating oil to prevent them from entering the lubrication system and wearing components. After using the oil filter for a period of time, a large amount of oil sludge and metal debris will accumulate on the filter element, causing the filter to block, hindering the flow of lubricating oil, and hindering the normal operation of the system. At this point, the oil filter and oil should be replaced in a timely manner.

Procedure for changing engine oil and oil filter
To ensure operational safety, the steps for replacing the engine oil filter should be noted as follows: Park the car on a flat surface. If the surface is tilted, it will result in the old oil not being discharged completely. When replacing the engine oil filter, it is best to choose before driving. If the engine has been running, it should be stopped for at least 30 minutes to allow the oil to fully fall back into the oil pan.
Remove the drain plug and drain the engine oil. After draining, clean the drain plug. Install the oil drain plug again and tighten it according to the following requirements.
Tightening torque: 30N · m Use an oil filter wrench to loosen the oil filter. Apply engine oil to the O-ring of the engine oil filter. Screw the new oil filter onto the oil filter holder by hand until the O-ring of the filter contacts the installation surface, and then tighten it with an oil filter wrench.
In order to properly tighten the oil filter, pay attention to identifying the precise position of the initial contact between the filter O-ring and the installation surface. After contact with the installation surface, tighten the filter by an additional 3/4 turn using an oil filter wrench. Tightening torque: 15N · m. Replacement of integral oil filter
Most engines use integral oil filters, and the filter element cannot be removed. When impurities block the filter element and the resistance to oil flow increases, the oil filter must be replaced as a whole. This work can only be operated by technical personnel from 4S stores, but the owner's correct understanding of the operating standards will help ensure quality.
When replacing the oil filter, use a special tool to remove it, clean the installation surface of the oil filter to prevent impurities from affecting the sealing effect, and then apply clean oil to the gasket of the new oil filter.
Tighten the oil filter by hand until resistance is felt, then use a special tool to tighten it by 3/4 turn. Be sure to start the engine and check if the oil filter is leaking.

Detachable oil filter:
For detachable oil filters, when the filter element is too dirty and clogged, only the filter element needs to be replaced. The operation method is as follows: place an oil basin at the drain plug of the engine oil pan, remove the drain plug, and drain the old oil.
After the old oil in the oil pan is completely drained, use a filter wrench to remove the filter element and take out a new filter element of the same type. First, apply a layer of oil to the O-ring of the filter element, and twist the filter element by hand until it cannot be turned. Do not tighten the filter with a filter wrench to avoid damage to the O-ring and oil leakage.
Similarly, after installation, start the engine and observe if the filter leaks during idle speed. If there is a leak, the oil seal skirt should be removed and inspected to eliminate the leak.
