The function of a fuel filter is to remove solid impurities such as iron oxide and dust contained in the fuel, preventing blockage of the fuel system (especially the fuel injector). Reduce mechanical wear, ensure stable engine operation, and improve reliability. The structure of the fuel injector consists of an aluminum shell and a bracket with stainless steel inside. The bracket is equipped with high-efficiency filter paper, which is in the shape of a chrysanthemum to increase the flow area.
Fuel usually contains impurities, moisture, and gum, which can enter the fuel supply system and engine through the fuel. The fuel filter is used to remove and prevent fuel system blockage, especially the fuel injector; At the same time, it can also reduce the wear of engine components, thereby avoiding damage to the engine and helping the engine to perform at its best. According to BMW maintenance requirements, perform oil filter maintenance every two times and fuel filter maintenance once.
The consequences of using substandard and inferior fuel filters are that the manufacturing materials of inferior fuel filters are poor, and the filtering effect is also poor. Prolonged use of the internal filter element may cause blockage of the fuel circuit, resulting in insufficient fuel pressure and the inability of the vehicle to start. At the same time, it can also cause abnormal pressure in the fuel system, directly leading to insufficient engine power or insufficient combustion, and damaging valuable components such as the three-way catalytic converter and oxygen sensors.
