During operation, a large amount of air is drawn into the functional engine. If the air is not filtered, the dust suspended in the air will be sucked into the cylinder, which will accelerate the wear of the piston group and the cylinder. Large particles entering between the piston and cylinder can cause severe cylinder pulling, especially in dry and sandy working environments. The air filter is installed in front of the carburetor or intake pipe to filter out the dust and sand particles in the air to ensure sufficient and clean air to enter the cylinder. The air filter is a very inconspicuous part among the tens of thousands of parts in thousands of cars. It is not directly related to the technical performance of the car, but in the actual use of the car, the air filter has a great impact on the service life of the car. On the one hand, if there is no filtering function of the air filter, the engine will inhale a large amount of air containing dust and particles, resulting in serious wear of the engine cylinder; On the other hand, if maintenance is not performed for a long time during use, the filter element of the air filter will be covered with dust in the air, which will not only reduce the filtering capacity, but also hinder the circulation of the air, resulting in too much mixture and abnormal engine operation. Therefore, it is very important to maintain the air filter on time. Most air filters come in both paper and oil bath forms. In recent years, paper filters have been widely used due to their high filtration efficiency, light weight, low cost, and easy maintenance. The filtration efficiency of the paper filter element is above 99.5%, and the filtration efficiency of the oil bath filter is 95-96% under normal conditions.
The filter element of the air filter is divided into two types: dry filter element and wet filter element. The dry filter element material is filter paper or non-woven fabric. In order to increase the air passage area, the filter elements are all processed with many small wrinkles. When the filter element is slightly dirty, you can use compressed air to blow it clean. The wet filter element is made of sponge-like polyurethane material. When installing, some oil should be added dropwise and kneaded by hand to absorb foreign matter in the air. If the filter element is fouled, it can be cleaned with cleaning oil, and the filter element should be replaced if it is too fouled. If the filter element is seriously blocked, the intake resistance will increase and the engine power will decrease. At the same time, due to the increase in air resistance, the amount of gasoline inhaled will also increase, resulting in an excessively rich mixture ratio, which in turn makes the engine running state worse, increases fuel consumption, and is prone to carbon deposition. Usually, you should develop the habit of checking the air filter element frequently.
Air filter cleaning content introduction:
Cleaning
1. Loosen the filter lock, remove the nut fixing the filter element, remove the protective cover and pull out the filter element. Take out the filter element, taking care to prevent impurities from falling into the carburetor. Wipe the inside and outside of the air filter housing with a rag dampened with gasoline.
2. Starting from the inside of the filter element, blow off the dust on the inner and outer surfaces of the filter element evenly up and down along the oblique direction. If there is no compressed air, lightly tap the filter element with the handle of a screwdriver, and then use a brush to remove external dirt.
3. Check the filter element after cleaning and drying. Put the light on the inside of the filter element and observe from the outside whether there is any damage, small holes or thinned parts, and check whether the rubber gasket is damaged. If abnormal, replace the filter element and gasket.
4. Replace the filter element of the air filter. Replace according to the regulations of each model. When replacing the filter element, pay attention to check whether the new filter element is damaged or not, and whether the gasket is defective. If any defect is found, it should be matched.
