What are the most dangerous situations in a vehicle? Flat tire? Brake failure? However, there is also a dangerous situation that cannot be ignored, that is, the engine suddenly stops while driving. At this time, the brake assist and steering assist will fail, the vehicle is difficult to control, and it is very prone to danger.
There are many reasons for the sudden flameout during driving, among which the problem of the engine fuel system is more common.
01 Abnormal fuel supply to the fuel pump
The fuel pump is the source of the engine fuel supply system. Its function is to suck out the fuel from the fuel tank, pressurize it and deliver it to the fuel supply pipe, and cooperate with the fuel pressure regulator to establish a certain fuel pressure. The fuel pump assembly includes a primary filter and a motor, and these two components have an important impact on the fuel supply.
If the fuel pump motor power is reduced, the continuity of the fuel supply and the amount of fuel supply will be reduced. When the engine is running at high load and requires a large amount of fuel supply, the insufficient motor power cannot guarantee the fuel amount to meet the requirements.
Before the suction port of the fuel pump, a layer of coarse filter is also arranged to filter the larger particle impurities in the fuel. If the fuel quality is poor, there are too many impurities, or the debris attached to the inner wall of the fuel tank falls off, the coarse filter is easily covered by impurities, resulting in poor passability, and the fuel supply of the fuel pump will be greatly reduced.
02 Fuel filter clogged
The fuel filter is connected in series on the pipeline between the fuel pump and the throttle body inlet. The function of the fuel filter is to remove the iron oxide, dust and other solid impurities contained in the fuel to prevent the fuel system from being blocked (especially the fuel injector). Reduce mechanical wear, ensure stable engine operation and improve reliability. Internal or external problems with this component can also affect the operation of the engine.
If the fuel filter is not replaced for a long time, a large amount of impurities will adhere to the internal filter paper, resulting in worse and worse fuel passage. This can cause the engine to receive a significant lack of fuel and, due to a clogged fuel filter, the build-up pressure buildup activates the pressure relief valve, further reducing the amount of fuel delivered to the injectors.
When replacing the fuel filter, the fuel pipes and connectors at both ends of the filter need to be removed. In some vehicles, the fuel line here is a rubber hose. Long-term use and repeated disassembly and assembly will cause local aging of the rubber here, which may crack. There are also some vehicles that use plastic fuel hoses with retaining clips. Plastic clips are also prone to aging, sticking, and even cracking. The connection between the fuel line and the fuel filter can be opened by fuel pressure, causing a large fuel leak and causing the engine to stall.
03 Inferior parts used
When repairing and maintaining vehicles, if inferior components are installed, various problems are often caused. Inferior fuel pumps and fuel filters may not be able to meet the working requirements of the engine in terms of fuel supply and oil pressure control.
For the main components of the engine fuel system, such as the fuel filter, the car manufacturer stipulates the replacement mileage, and the owner should replace it regularly in accordance with the relevant regulations. When maintaining the vehicle, please use high-quality accessories with guaranteed quality to avoid damage to the vehicle and dangerous situations. In addition, it is also necessary to comply with the operating specifications during installation to ensure reliable installation of relevant components and avoid damage. Mrefilter supplies fuel filters and other components for many models to help keep the engine in good working order.
