Inspection steps required for a high-quality oil filter

2022-04-12 View:

Oil filters are generally divided into two types, one is a replaceable oil filter element, and the other is a spin-on oil filter. For the replaceable filter element, we can directly feel the quality and strength of the filter paper from the outside, but for the spin-on oil filter, whether it is an original part, a brand part or a product from a small workshop, only the outer casing and chassis can be seen, and it is difficult to judge the filter quality inside at a glance.

So, how can we ensure the product quality and filtration efficiency of oil filters? As Mrefilter, which has been focusing on the commercial vehicle filter market for 23 years, has its own strict testing methods.

Tightness test

The sealing performance of filter products is one of the most important quality characteristics. If there is leakage during operation, it may cause damage to the engine. In order to ensure that each product has reliable sealing performance and provide customers with absolutely reliable products, Mrefilter uses multiple leak detectors to conduct 100% air tightness inspections on filter products. Each leak tester has two stations and a set of independent pneumatic control system, which can meet the tightness detection of mass production filters.

Comprehensive performance test

The oil filter comprehensive test bench is a test bench for testing the basic performance of the oil filter. Through pressure drop/flow characteristic test, original filtration efficiency test, life and cumulative efficiency test, bypass valve opening pressure test, test the production raw materials of filter products and the design type of the product to measure the total efficiency of the product itself.

Inlet and outlet check valve performance test

Through the oil filter inlet and outlet check valve test bench, we can detect whether the check valve can prevent the oil in the filter from flowing back under the action of gravity after the engine is turned off, so as to judge whether it works normally. The check valve performance test bench is an important tool for product development and product performance testing.

Pulse fatigue test

The pulse fatigue test bench is a simulation equipment that can simulate the continuous change of the engine oil pressure to the filter assembly when the engine is running. When the engine is running, constantly changing pulse pressure will be generated in the oil circuit and fuel oil circuit. This pulse oil pressure will cause fatigue and aging of the filter housing assembly, and may cause a rupture and oil leakage accident in severe cases. This pulse fatigue test bench is a device specially used to test the anti-pulse fatigue performance and reliability of filters. Mrefilter's requirement is that on the basis of meeting the requirements of the national standard, the product is subjected to 100,000 pulse tests under the test state of 0.9MPa and 1Hz in a simulated driving environment. It is required that the joints of the products are not allowed to seep oil, and the parts are not damaged.

Static pressure damage test

The filter static pressure damage test bench is specially used to test the pressure sealing performance of the spin-on filter product shell assembly to high static pressure. Through this testing equipment, we can clearly understand the sealing state and high oil pressure resistance performance of a spin-on filter product. Mrefilter's static pressure requirements for products are based on meeting the requirements of national standards, extending the pressure holding time to 10 minutes, requiring no damage and leakage of the product shell, and other sealing parts are not allowed to leak.
