Air filter blockage is the most common basic fault in vehicles and construction machinery, and almost all fuel equipment will encounter it. After long-term use of the filter element, dust, willow catkins, dust, and impurities continue to accumulate in the pores of the filter material, gradually blocking the intake passage, resulting in insufficient intake volume, turbulent airflow, and imbalanced air-fuel ratio, leading to a series of engine failures. Many car owners are unable to accurately identify blockage symptoms and often attribute faults to carbon deposits and oil circuit problems, resulting in maintenance errors that only address the symptoms and not the root cause. Clear classification of blockage symptoms, core causes, and corresponding solutions can quickly and accurately solve problems.

Air filter blockage is divided into three stages: mild, moderate, and severe, with clear progression of symptoms and high recognition. In the stage of slight blockage, the surface of the filter material only accumulates dust on the surface, and the pores are partially blocked. There are no obvious abnormalities during daily idle and low-speed driving, but only weak power and sluggish throttle response occur during heavy load, climbing, and high-speed acceleration. The fuel consumption slightly increases by 5% -10%, which is easily overlooked by users. During the moderate blockage stage, impurities accumulate and deepen, leading to a significant increase in intake resistance. The engine idles slightly, with unstable RPM and slower cold start. Acceleration becomes weak and sluggish, resulting in a 10% -20% increase in fuel consumption. The exhaust is accompanied by slight black smoke, and there is a noticeable lag in power response inside the car. In the stage of severe blockage, the pores of the filter material are basically completely blocked, the air intake is severely insufficient, the engine frequently idles and stalls, cold start is difficult, driving jerks, power is greatly reduced, fuel consumption surges by more than 20%, and in severe cases, the equipment cannot start and operate normally.

The four core causes of filter blockage cover the entire range of driving problems. Firstly, the working environment is harsh, with long-term driving on dirt roads, construction sites, dust, and haze weather. The high concentration of impurities in the air and the rapid accumulation of dust and blockage in the filter element are the main causes. Secondly, due to overdue use and delayed maintenance, the filter element was not checked and replaced according to the operating cycle, resulting in continuous accumulation of impurities, saturation of dust holding capacity, and complete blockage of pores. Thirdly, the filter protection fails, the intake duct is damaged, the air filter housing is not tightly sealed, and unfiltered air directly enters the interior of the filter, accelerating deep blockage. Fourthly, blockage caused by damp water accumulation, such as wading through water on rainy days, engine room getting damp, and washing the car with water, can lead to the dust in the filter element getting damp and solidifying, and the pores sticking and blocking, making it impossible to clean through simple blowing.

The grading processing scheme is precise and efficient, balancing economy and maintenance effectiveness. Slightly dry and clogged with dust, low-pressure air gun can be used to blow from the inside out, clean the surface floating dust, restore smooth air intake, temporarily reuse, and replace it regularly in the future; It is strictly prohibited to use high-pressure air guns to blow in the opposite direction, in order to avoid damaging the structure of the filter material, expanding the pores, and causing filtration failure. The filter element with moderate blockage, dust agglomeration, moisture deformation, and heavy dust accumulation has no repair value and must be directly replaced with a brand new genuine filter element. At the same time, the air filter housing and pipeline sealing must be checked to prevent external dust leakage. If severe blockage causes power failure and difficulty starting, after replacing the filter element, it is necessary to clean the carbon deposits on the throttle valve and impurities in the intake duct, reset the engine operating conditions, and completely restore power and fuel consumption levels.

Filter blockage can be prevented in advance through regular inspections. The air filter must be checked during each minor maintenance, and the frequency of inspections should be increased for dust and humid conditions. Timely cleaning of surface floating dust, inspection of sealing hazards, and regular replacement of filter elements can prevent more than 90% of intake failures from the root, ensuring sufficient engine intake, sufficient combustion, and stable operating conditions.
