Modern cars mostly use paper air filters, paper filter core filtration efficiency is high, dust transmission rate is only 0.1% ~ 0.3%. The use of paper air filters can reduce the wear of the cylinder and piston and extend the service life of the engine.

Paper air filter use and maintenance precautions
1. Master the characteristics and cleaning methods of paper filter element. The filter element is made of microporous filter paper with a treated surface. When the engine is working, the air filters the dust through the microholes to ensure that clean air enters the cylinder. In use, there will be a layer of dust around the filter element, and water or oil can not be used when cleaning to prevent oil and water from staining the filter element.

Commonly used paper air filter element cleaning method
A. Tap method, that is, remove the filter from the shell, gently beat the end face of the paper filter to make the dust fall off, do not knock the outer surface of the filter to prevent damage to the filter.
B. Blowing method, that is, blowing compressed air from the inside of the filter to the outside, blowing the dust away. In order to prevent damage to the filter paper, the compressed air pressure should not exceed 0.2 ~ 0.3MPa.

2. Clean and replace the filter element regularly. In use, the air filter element should be cleaned regularly according to the car maintenance regulations, so as not to increase the intake resistance due to excessive dust adhesion on the filter element, reduce the engine power, and increase the fuel consumption. If the filter element is damaged, it should be replaced in time.

3. Correct installation to prevent air from entering the cylinder without filtering. When checking and maintaining the air filter, the gasket on the filter element must be installed. If the gasket has aged and deformed or broken, replace it with a new one.

4. When replacing the new filter, the original filter supply should be selected, do not use the inferior filter, generally can identify the quality and inferior filter from the packaging and appearance, can also be installed after the inspection, such as the installation of the new filter, the CO emission of the car exceeds the standard, the CO emission when the filter is not installed, indicating that the filter permeability is poor, is unqualified filter.

Air filter installation precautions
1. Fix the wing nuts of the upper and lower shells of the air filter, do not over-tighten them.
2. Ensure that the gasket from the air filter to the throttle body is installed, and the upper housing of the air filter is installed correctly and tightened. Missing or misaligned padding can cause the engine to make noise or allow unfiltered air to enter the engine.
