When the mileage of the car reaches the interval mileage specified for air filter maintenance, or when the air filter blockage indicator light alarms (regardless of the mileage), the air filter must be cleaned.
(1) Clean the air filter. Release the air filter latch, remove the nut that fixes the filter element, remove the protective cover, and then pull out the filter element. Take out the filter element and be careful to prevent impurities from falling into the carburetor. Wipe the inside and outside of the air filter housing with a cloth dipped in gasoline.
Check the degree of contamination in the filter element and clean it. When the accumulated dust in the filter element is dry dust, compressed air with a pressure not exceeding 500KPa can be used to blow off the dust on the inner and outer surfaces of the filter element uniformly in a diagonal direction starting from the inside of the filter element. If there is no compressed air, gently tap the filter element with the handle of a screwdriver, and then use a brush to clean the external dirt.
When cleaning the air filter, do not use strong tapping or collision with the filter element. If the filter element is found to be damaged during cleaning, it should be replaced in a timely manner. Normally used paper filter cartridges should be replaced at specified intervals.
(2) Check the air filter, clean and dry the filter element. Turn on the lighting and place it inside the filter element. Observe from the outside for any damage, small holes, or thinning parts, and check for any damage to the rubber gasket. If there are any abnormalities, the filter element and gasket should be replaced.
(3) Replace the filter element of the air filter. Replace according to the regulations of each vehicle model. When replacing the filter element, attention should be paid to checking whether the new filter element is damaged and whether the gasket is damaged. If any defects are found, they should be matched.
(4) Install the air filter. After cleaning the filter element, install each component in the opposite order to disassembly. The filter element must be reliably installed, and it is not advisable to touch the paper part of the filter element with hands or tools, especially not to let oil contaminate the filter element.
When installing the intake duct, it should be ensured that it is sealed, and special attention should be paid to the sealing of the intake joint sheath.
When maintaining the air filter, it is also necessary to carefully check the condition of the rubber hose connected to the air filter. If cracks or aging are found in the rubber hose, it should be replaced in a timely manner.
Clean the air filter and replace the filter element if necessary
The car engine is a very precise component, and even the smallest impurities can cause engine damage. Therefore, before air enters the cylinder, it must first be finely filtered by the air filter before it can enter the cylinder. The air filter is the guardian angel of the engine, and the condition of the air filter is related to the lifespan of the engine.
If a dirty air filter is used while driving a car, it can cause insufficient intake of air and incomplete fuel combustion, resulting in unstable engine operation, decreased power, and increased fuel consumption. Therefore, cars must keep their air filters clean.
Under normal road conditions, the air filter must be cleaned and maintained when driving 7500-8000km. In areas with high levels of dust and sand, the maintenance interval of air filters should be correspondingly shortened.
Dry air filters are widely used in new cars, and the filter element of the dry air filter is made of resin treated microporous filter paper, which has the characteristics of good filtration effect and easy maintenance. Due to different vehicle models, their structural shapes may vary, but the maintenance methods for air filters are basically the same. When maintaining the air filter, the mileage specified by the car manufacturer should be followed.
