The main method of removing water in the diesel filtration system is sedimentation. Either a settling chamber is installed at the bottom of the filter, or a specialized settling device is used. Both the sedimentation chamber at the bottom of the filter and the specialized sedimentation tank are equipped with a water discharge valve. When water accumulates to a certain amount, the valve is opened to discharge water, also known as the fuel water separator filter.
Introduction to fuel water separator filter
The fuel water separator is a type of fuel filter, whose main function is to remove water from diesel fuel, reduce fuel injector failures, and extend the service life of the engine.
The principle of the filter is mainly based on the density difference between water and fuel, using the principle of gravity sedimentation to remove impurities and moisture in the separator. There are also diffusion cones, filter screens, and other separation components inside. The fuel water separator also has other functions, such as pre heating the fuel to prevent wax formation and filtering impurities.
Benefits of installing an fuel water separation filter
Under the third national standard, models that use high-pressure common rail engines also have higher requirements for diesel quality, as the high-pressure fuel injectors require precise control of injection pressure, injection time, and injection quantity, so the workmanship is also relatively exquisite. If there is water or impurities in the diesel that are not filtered thoroughly, it will cause wear and tear to the plunger components inside the fuel injector, until the fuel injector gets stuck. Damaged fuel injectors can cause unstable or weak engine acceleration, or emit black smoke and other faults, affecting the normal operation of the vehicle.
As the first stage of a multi-stage filter system, the fuel coarse filter has the function of filtering out large particle impurities and moisture. According to the requirements of the third emission standard for fuel pressure, the water separation efficiency of the filter is required to reach 95%, but many coarse filters cannot achieve this filtering effect, which can cause damage to the engine over time. In order to ensure that the engine can "drink" clean and good diesel, the simplest and most practical method is to perform a "secondary processing" on the substandard oil and install a set of fuel water separator.
