The air filter of a car is equivalent to a person's nose, which is the first "checkpoint" through which air enters the engine. Its function is to filter out sand and suspended particles in the air, making the air entering the engine relatively pure. This is the screen, which can make the engine work normally.
Generally speaking, the air in spring contains relatively more dust and sand particles, and the air filter is prone to blockage. At this time, the engine will experience symptoms such as difficulty starting, weak acceleration, and unstable idle speed. Therefore, it is very necessary to clean the air filter before entering summer.
The normal operation of the air filter can avoid premature engine wear and maintain optimal working condition.
Usually, car manufacturers recommend a replacement cycle of 48000 kilometers for normal maintenance of air filters, and a routine inspection should be conducted every 24000 kilometers; The recommended replacement cycle for conservative maintenance is 24000 km. The air filter of a typical car needs to be replaced every 20000 kilometers, and must be replaced every 25000 kilometers.
Cleaning the Air Filter DIY Procedure
STEP1: Open the engine compartment cover and confirm the position of the air filter (generally located on the right side of the engine compartment, above the right front wheel, there is a black square plastic box connected by a thick arm Kneaded eraser hose).
STEP2: The design is designed to facilitate frequent disassembly and cleaning by car owners. Generally, car models do not use screws to fix them. Gently pry apart the two metal clips facing the rear of the car to lift the entire air filter box cover forward. Some models also install screws on the clamp of the box cover, so it is necessary to select a suitable screwdriver to unscrew the screws on the air filter clamp.
STEP3: Lift the entire air filter box cover forward.
STEP4: Take out the air filter element and check if there is a lot of dust. You can gently tap the end face of the filter element and blow compressed air from the inside out to remove the dust on the filter element. Do not use gasoline or water to wash or brush. If the air filter has become severely clogged, it needs to be replaced with a new one.
STEP5: Before reinstalling the air filter, it is necessary to confirm that there is no residual moisture or cotton yarn in the air filter and intake box.
STEP6: When dismantling, it is important to remember the process in order to proceed smoothly during installation, using filter paper. If there are problems during installation, the cause should be identified and brute force should not be used.
