【Meiruier Filter】 What is the main function of automotive oil filter

2023-06-07 View:

The function of oil filter is to filter the harmful impurities in the oil from the oil pan, and supply clean oil to the crankshaft, connecting rod, camshaft, supercharger, piston ring and other motion pairs to lubricate, cool and clean, thus extending the life of these parts.
The oil filter, also called engine filter, is located in the engine lubrication system. The upstream of the filter is the oil pump, and the downstream is the various components that need lubrication in the engine.
In order to reduce the frictional resistance between relative moving parts in the engine and reduce the wear of parts, oil is continuously transported to the friction surfaces of each moving part to form a lubricating oil film for lubrication. However, the engine oil itself contains a certain amount of gum, impurities, moisture, and additives. At the same time, the introduction of metal debris, the entry of impurities in the air, and the generation of oil oxides during engine operation gradually increase the amount of impurities in the engine oil. If the engine oil is not filtered and enters the lubricating oil circuit directly, the impurities contained in the oil will be brought into the friction surface of the motion pair, accelerating the wear of parts and reducing the service life of the engine. Therefore, all cars are equipped with oil filter, whose function is to filter impurities, gums and water in the oil and deliver clean oil to all lubricating parts.
Machine filters are divided into interchangeable, rotary, and centrifugal types according to their structure; According to the arrangement in the system, it can be divided into full flow and split flow. The filtering materials used in machine filtration include filter paper, felt, metal mesh, non-woven fabric, etc.
