Replacement steps of air filter:
Step 1: Open the engine compartment cover and confirm the position of the air filter. The air filter is generally located on the left side of the engine compartment, above the left front wheel. A square plastic black box can be seen and the filter element is installed inside. There are 4 clips around the housing cover, which are used to press the plastic housing above the air filter to keep the air inlet pipe sealed. The structure of the buckle is relatively simple. We can lift the upper cover of the entire air filter by gently lifting the two metal clips upwards. Some models also use screws to fix the air filter. At this time, you need to select an appropriate screwdriver to unscrew the screws on the air filter box to open the plastic housing and see the air filter inside.
Step 2: Take out the air filter element and check whether there is much dust. Tap the end face of the filter element gently, or use compressed air to clean the dust on the filter element from the inside out. Do not wash it with tap water. If the air filter is seriously blocked, replace it with a new one. By comparing the two removed filters, we can find that the filter paper of the old filter has been blackened. This is because a lot of dust has accumulated in the paper fibers. Excessive dust accumulation will inevitably lead to low air flow, resulting in poor engine working conditions and reduced power performance. Therefore, regular replacement of the air filter is helpful to maintain the power performance of the engine.
Step 3: After the air filter element is processed, the air filter box needs to be thoroughly cleaned. Generally, a large amount of dust will accumulate under the air filter, which is the culprit of the engine power decline.
Step 4: When installing the new air filter, we should pay attention to a protruding plastic sheet on the right under the air filter. This plastic sheet is designed to prevent the air filter from being installed upside down. When installing the air filter, it is necessary to clip the plastic sheet into the slot of the filter base before installing it in place.
After confirming that the air filter is installed in place, the shell can be covered, and the four clips at the edge are buckled to complete the work.
Notes:
1. Make sure the vehicle stops well, tighten the hand brake and shut down.
2. Try to operate with gloves on.
3. Pay attention to proper strength when screwing and pulling the clip.
