Automobile has become an indispensable tool for everyone to travel. Most filters in the automotive industry are filter air filters. The working principle of the filter is that the filter medium is the key filtering means.

The air filter is mainly composed of air inlet duct, air filter cover, air filter housing, filter element, etc. The filter element of the air filter is the key filtering component, which is responsible for gas filtering, while the shell is the external structure that provides the necessary support for the filter element. The working requirement of the air filter is that it can filter the high efficiency air without increasing too much resistance to the air flow, and can work continuously for a long time.

Operating principle of air filter

1. Dry inertial air filter
The dry air filter is composed of dust cover, deflector, ash outlet, dust cup, etc. It works by means of intake air in the cylinder.
The suction generated by the air filter causes the internal and external pressure difference. Under the effect of pressure, the external air enters the air filter at a high speed, and the larger dust mixed in the air is thrown into the dust collecting cup to complete the air filtration.

2. Wet inertial air filter
Wet air filter, also known as oil bath filter, is composed of central pipe and oil pool. Its working principle is that the air enters the filter and then drops at a high speed along the central tube. After flushing to the oil level in the oil pool, the direction of movement suddenly changes to upward, causing rotary movement. At this time, a part of heavy dust is stuck in the oil due to inertia, and it is too late to walk back with the empty gas, so the filtering of the empty gas is completed.

3. Dry filter air filter
The filter type air filter consists of a paper filter element and a sealing gasket. Its working principle is that the air is filtered through the paper filter element when it enters the filter, so that the dust in the air is separated by the filter element or adhered to the filter element.

4. Wet filter air filter
The key of wet filter is composed of metal filter screen immersed in engine oil. Its working principle is that when the gas filtered by the empty oil bath passes through the metal filter screen soaked in the engine oil, it is blocked by fine dust particles, and the attached dust particles fall into the engine oil together with the engine oil.
