What is the process of replacing the air filter? The first step is to open the engine compartment cover and confirm the position of the air filter. Most air filters are located on the left side of the engine compartment, above the left front wheel. You can see a square plastic black box with a filter element installed inside. There are four clips around the cover of the housing, which are used to press the plastic housing on the air filter to keep the air inlet pipe sealed. The structure of the buckle is relatively simple. We can lift the upper cover of the whole air filter by gently fastening the two metal clips upwards. Some models also use screws to fix the empty filter. At this time, you need to select a suitable screwdriver to unscrew the screws on the air filter box, so that you can open the plastic shell and see the air filter inside.

Clean the dust from the air filter.

Step 2: Take out the air filter element and check whether there is much dust. Gently tap the end face of the filter element, or use compressed air to clean the dust on the filter element from the inside out. Do not wash with tap water. If it is detected that the air filter is seriously blocked, replace it with a new one.

By comparing the removed new and old filter elements, it can be found that the filter paper of the old filter element has turned black. This is because a large amount of dust has accumulated in the paper fibers. Excessive dust accumulation will definitely make the air flow too low, affecting the engine working condition and power performance. Therefore, the air filter needs to be replaced regularly to maintain the dynamic performance of the engine.

Step 3: Clean the air filter box thoroughly after handling the air filter element. Most of them will accumulate a lot of dust under the air filter, which is the culprit affecting the reduction of engine power.

Step 4: When installing a new air filter, we need to pay attention to that there is a protruding plastic sheet on the right side below the air filter. This design is to avoid installing the anti air filter. When installing the air filter, the plastic sheet should be stuck in the groove of the filter base first, and then installed in place.
