The crankcase ventilation filter is a key component in the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) system, mainly responsible for filtering and cleaning the gas that enters the intake system from the crankcase.

It is usually located on the ventilation line between the valve cover and the intake manifold (sometimes it may also be integrated inside the valve cover). Its core function is to intercept oil mist, carbon particles, and impurities in the blow by gas, preventing these pollutants from entering the engine intake system and participating in combustion, thereby protecting the engine from pollution and wear.

The main function of the crankcase ventilation filter is to prevent pollutants from entering the cylinder combustion chamber, avoid carbon deposition in the combustion chamber, poisoning of the three-way catalyst, and premature engine wear. The filter is responsible for "filtering", while the PCV valve is responsible for "controlling". They are a whole, and any failure of one of them will affect the efficiency of the entire PCV system.

Although the crankcase ventilation system is small, its failure can affect the health of the engine. Do not ignore any related abnormal phenomena, timely inspection and replacement are wise choices that save time and effort.
